I have to write an imperial crapton of content about Wade bug shields. So if you have a bug shield, what do you like about it?
I have a few ideas, but one of them is listing all the bugs that can crash into the leading edge of your hood, so I need all the help I can get.

I have one on my Crosstrek, but I consider it more of a rock shield, honestly. With automotive paint being as cheap and thin as it is, it chips quite easily. The shield will deflect the road debris (rocks) away from the hood and hopefully away from the vehicle. I'm also pretty certain it has had a hand in saving me a chip in the windshield by directing the debris over the roof enough so it doesn't hit glass. While this might not have been the designed purpose, this is what I like best about a bug shield.

Some paintballs hit mine once so it protected some small amount of the hood from having to be wiped off. I think that was literally the only benefit I noticed.

Had one on my old TuRD. Don't have much to say. Don't have much to say about it. But, it did make washing and waxing difficult.

I broke a bug deflector by getting my sleeve caught on it.

Had one on my truck which is the last vehicle that saw a lot of bug-infested-area driving.
Pros:
Kept most bugs off windshield
Kept rocks from chipping leading edge of hood
Looked good
Cons:
Stopped looking good
Rattled when hood was slammed shut
Some can cause hood rust if mounted certain ways.

Worthless shite.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

My dad's Ram 1500 has one, and I see no purpose for it. We don't live in an area with many bugs in the summer, and it makes it a pain to wash the hood.

My truck came with one, took it off a few years later. Didn't notice any difference.

Had one on my old expedition to cover the paint bubbling on the front of the hood
Other than that I didn't really notice anything. I did really like how the one I got didn't require drilling any holes it just used existing ones.
My brother has a molded one on his sonic
He really likes how it is flush with his hood instead of sticking up and away from it and that it is close to his cars color

I used one to hide a dent and a few chips from the leading edge of the hood. Worked well for it's purpose

I have one on my trusty old '93 F150 (300 I6, naturally). It's probably been on there since then. not sure, I bought it 8 years ago with 87k on the clock.
Pros:
It keep bugs off the glass
Looks cool
Period correct
Cons:
Faded as hell
Would probably shatter if anything bigger than a bee hit it.
The area under it cannot be cleaned. Who knows what's there?

I have a black one on my Ranger. It's only real purpose is to hide damage to the very end of the fiberglass hood. Other than that I would remove it because it doesn't actually seem to help anything. I mean, the rest of the hood is scratched and chipped up anyhow.
